Jeff Clement, who appeared in 54 games for the Pirates in 2010, has been called up from Triple-A Indianapolis. Yamaico Navarro was optioned back to Indy.
Clement, 29, hit .276 with 16 homers in 112 games for the Indians. He hasn’t been great as of late, hitting just .154 in his last ten games and .169 in the month of August. He’ll contribute as a power bat off the bench.
Navarro appeared in four games since being recalled last weekend. He went hitless in five plate appearances. On the year, Yamaico has hit .160 in 29 big league games. With the return of Jordy Mercer, there’s really no need for Navarro, as Josh Harrison also plays a similar role.
