Unless you’re out of the Pittsburgh market and have MLB.TV, tonight was a radio only game for you due to the FOX national broadcast. Thankfully, it was a rough game, even to listen to, and the Pirates/Piratas lost to Shaun Marcum and the Brewers/Cerveceros.
Erik Bedard loaded the bases with no outs in the second, but only gave up one run on Brooks Conrad‘s sacrifice fly. Garrett Jones tied the game with a 453 foot solo blast in the fourth, and then things got ugly for Bedard in the bottom half. Aramis Ramirez singled to lead off the inning and Rickie Weeks followed with a double. Cody Random drove them both in, and then Conrad made it 5-1 with a two-run homer. Chris Resop pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings, and Jared Hughes and Doug Slaten both pitched one each. Marcum went 7, giving up 5 hits and striking out 8. Kameron Loe and Jose Veras pitched the last two innings for the Brewers.
Pirates (26-26) – Brewers (24-29)
Win: Marcum (4-3)
Loss: Bedard (3-6)
