Series Notes
The Brewers are currently riding a four-game winning streak into their first series vs. the Pirates this season… Milwaukee is in fourth place, 23-28 overall… The Pirates are 4-28 in Milwaukee since 2007… Kevin Correia has won just one out of 11 career games at Miller Park… Correia is 0-2 with a 6.19 ERA in his last three starts… Randy Wolf is winless since April 30… In the last ten years, Wolf is 9-3 with a 4.21 ERA in 124 innings vs. Pittsburgh… Erik Bedard has never face the Brewers in his career… The only current Brewer to ever face Bedard is Carlos Gomez, who is 3 for 5 against him… Shaun Marcum threw a career-high 119 pitches on Monday… Neil Walker is just 1 for 11 in his career vs. Marcum… James McDonald has lowered his ERA from 3.86 to 2.20 over his last eight starts… McDonald has allowed just two home runs in 65.1 innings, making him the toughest MLB right-handed pitcher to homer off of… Michael Fiers, who possesses a deceptive delivery, is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in his last three starts… The Pirates placed Charlie Morton on the DL with right elbow inflammation… Brewers catcher Jonathon Lucroy is on the disabled list with a right hand fracture after his wife dropped a suitcase on him… If Ryan Braun was indeed suspended for 50 games, he would have been eligible to return on Thursday night… Braun leads Milwaukee with a .309 average, 14 HR, and 36 RBI… The Brewers had a winning percentage of .704 at home last season, which was the best mark in the majors… Zack Greinke was 11-0 in 15 home starts in 2011; thankfully the Pirates miss him this series… John Axford recorded a franchise-record 46 saves last season, and has closed out 10 games this season… ROOT Sports will not be carrying the game on Saturday night, so it will not be on television in the Pittsburgh area.
