New to PNC Park in 2012 were the famous crab fries of Chickie’s & Pete’s. The odd part about this is that Chickie’s & Pete’s is based out of Philadelphia; Pittsburghers aren’t too fond of the east side of the state. The 96.1 Morning Freak Show said, “It would be comparable to a Primanti Brothers opening in Citizens Bank Park where the Phillies play.” However, the crab fries are a delightful snack at a ballgame so the Philly hate can be put to the side for the moment.
While the restaurant locations feature various food selections, the Chickie’s & Pete’s at PNC Park is centered around the crab fries. The fries will run you just under $10, but they certainly fill you up. Between the two of us, we were able to finish the bucket of fries while both eating reasonable portions.

The fries feature a flavorful crab seasoning and are served with a cup of dipping sauce. You can find the Chickie’s & Pete’s stand behind sections 129-131, located in “Pop’s Plaza.”
Multiple new Chickie’s & Pete’s locations have opened in the past calendar year, with most situated in east Pennsylvania. PNC Park is the western-most location of their crab fries. Maybe some of their restaurants will surface on our side of the state in the near future; ESPN voted Chickie’s & Pete’s the number one sports bar in the northeast United States in 2011.
